The PET Project 3.0 held on Wednesday, January 21, 2020, at the Children Outpatient Clinic, UCH, Ibadan. Medical supplies for 50 Partial Exchange Transfusions were donated to the Paediatric Cardiology Unit of University College Hospital.
Health talk
Dr. B.E. Adebayo, Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist, University College Hospital, Ibadan, gave a health talk on congenital heart defects, the condition commonly called hole in the heart, to an audience of children with congenital heart defects and their parents, volunteers and other attendees. The talk focused on the role of caregivers in the care of these children. Questions were taken from the audience and answered.
Support
The medical items donated cater for 50 Partial Exchange Transfusions for children with Tetralogy of Fallot, a type of hole in the heart, receiving care at the Paediatric Cardiology Unit. Children who need this life-saving procedure on the UCH Paediatric Cardiology Ward have it done at no cost to their families as a result. We intend to sustain the donations and to extend the PET Project to other hospitals.
