Donate-A-Pint 5.0 marked World Blood Donor Day 2024 at Alexander Brown Hall and the UCH Blood Bank, with about 60 pints of blood donated.
The Donate-A-Pint Project 5.0 held on 6th July, 2024, at Alexander Brown Hall, UCH, and the University College Hospital Blood Bank, in commemoration of the 2024 World Blood Donor Day. About 60 pints of blood were donated by voluntary blood donors at Alexander Brown Hall.
Donors were mostly clinical students of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, and residents of Ibadan.
The day was photographed throughout. The pictures show donors lying back with Give Blood signs, volunteers at the SmileBuilders backdrop, a health worker holding a donor’s hand during a donation, and the team together with partners once the drive was over. Several donors held placards reading Every Blood Donor Is a Hero.
The blood collected went to the UCH Blood Bank, where it is used for patients living with sickle cell disease, cancer and heart conditions who need a transfusion at short notice.
