The first Pink Project donated supplies for 100 chemotherapy sessions to the Oncology Unit of UCH, with a breast cancer talk by Professor T.O. Ogundiran.
The Pink Project 1.0 held on 29 October, 2021, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Medical supplies for 100 chemotherapy sessions were donated to the Oncology Unit of University College Hospital, Ibadan. Our Executive Director, Dr. O.A. Amusat, handed the supplies to the Surgical Oncology Unit on behalf of the organisation.
Health talk
Professor T.O. Ogundiran, Consultant General Surgeon, UCH, delivered a health talk on breast cancer to the women with breast cancer present at the event, to increase their knowledge of the disease and of how to prevent complications.
Support
Chemotherapy runs over months, and each session carries costs beyond the drugs themselves. Covering the supplies for 100 sessions keeps treatment on schedule for women who cannot afford a delay.
Breast cancer has been part of our work since October 2018, when we ran a month of social media advocacy, tweet chats, a webinar, a radio programme and a screening outreach in Ojoo for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In October 2022 we joined the FAMSA Headquarters Board for a further breast cancer outreach at Kola Daisi Primary Health Care Centre, Ibadan.
