What We Do
PET Project is a charitable intervention of SmileBuilders Initiative that aims to reduce mortality(deaths) from polycythaemia (abnormally high blood volume) associated with Tetralogy of Fallot (a type of ‘hole in the heart’). The project aims to provide medical supplies to cater for 50 Partial Exchange Transfusions, a life-saving intervention for children with Tetralogy of Fallot who receive care at Paediatric Cardiology Units of hospitals in Ibadan every 6 months. The ultimate goal of the project is to prevent deaths of these children before they get the chance to undergo heart surgery and also ensuring their good health and wellbeing.
During the execution of this project, a health talk would be given to the caregivers of children with this heart disease by a specialist in childhood heart diseases to increase their knowledge about the disease and how to provide the required care for these children.
DAP Project is a charitable intervention of SmileBuilders Initiative that aims to reduce mortality(deaths) from anaemia (low blood volume) in patients with NCDs who require blood transfusion. The project aims to make blood readily available at blood banks for patients with NCDs who receive care at hospitals in Ibadan. The ultimate goal of the project is to prevent deaths of these patients who require urgent blood transfusion and also ensuring their good health and wellbeing.
This project will entail a blood donation drive every 3 months to prevent shortage/unavailability of blood at blood banks (our main targets are National Blood Transfusion Service and University College Hospital Blood Bank). Patients with NCDs who require blood will be given cover letters by our organization to ensure their access to the units of blood they require without having to provide donor(s).

The ultimate goal of the project is to prevent deaths from breast cancer due to unaffordability of chemotherapy.
